Spring is Here

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

Hopefully Dwight will not jinx spring into hiding, but spring seems to have come to Falun. It’s warm enough to walk around without a jacket during the day. To celebrate Astrid has take Dwight for 5km walks. Today they went to Linda & Ryan’s. Ryan showed Dwight some interesting settings for monochrome picture taking with his camera. Astrid made Dwight delete most of his experiments, but a few have survived for your viwing pleasure.

Then they got their car and Ryan & Linda got their kids from dagis (day care) and we went to a nature reserve outside of Borlänge. It was a pretty area even though none of the trees of any signs of life yet. Motley is happy spring is here cause he sometimes likes to eat grass.

The Return of Winter

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

Dwight seems to have a calming affect on the weather. Sure not everyday is warm and sunny, but he does seem to avoid the extremes. When Dwight went to Maryland for his mission, they experienced some fairly mild weather for those two years. The snow was manageable, no big ice storms, no aftershocks of hurricanes, summers weren’t comfortable, but then they weren’t excessively hot as they have been at other times.

Dwight’s weather calming affect followed him to Sweden. The winter had it’s cold days and weeks, but nothing crazy compared to what he was used to from Utah. In fact Utah had some fairly big storms since it is sans Dwight. Apparently though nature doesn’t like this and winter must not be denied. Earlier this week it started snowing every night. One night it started and didn’t stop until the same time the next day. Walking the dog has again become a chore of putting on enough layers of clothes to withstand the cold.

Thankfully the blanket of white that was covering everything has melted off again. Sadly the nice temperatures have not returned. Dwight is hoping that winter will give up at least in time for his birthday, but he’s not sure how optimistic he should be. Earlier this week when Dwight lamented the 24 hours of snowing to Joe, Joe had the audacity to point out that Dwight did move to Sweden. Sure it’s true Dwight lives in Sweden, but he didn’t move here for the weather.
